In the second edition, 2025: the project Artists Play with Time shifted towards an open, mobile format, transforming the installation into an itinerant object circulating through a spontaneous network of artists. Each participant received the clock-based instrument by post, used it for two weeks to create a sonic action, performance, or impulse, and then passed it on to another artist of their choice. What emerged was a growing web of connections, shaped by gestures of exchange, care, and curiosity.

The journey began with Ingrid Ene and continued with artists such as Andreea Vlăduț and Florine Mougel, gradually expanding into an international network including Laure Boer, Frank Glier, Hedieh Khajehzadeh, Thibault Jehanne, and many others. Two invited artists – Lăcrămioara Grozăvescu, working with textiles, photography, and family archives, and Cătălina Gubandru, exploring participatory relations between body, text, and objects – responded to the sound fragments by creating or reactivating artworks. Rather than closing with a static exhibition, the project cultivated an ongoing framework of encounters, where the installation served as a catalyst for collaborative resonance. In this way, Artists Play with Time remained faithful to its initial impulse: to weave associative connectivity and sustain a collective experiment unfolding over time.

The project Artists Play with Time began in 2022, initiated by artist Ingrid Ene in collaboration with sound artist Dyslex. At its core was a sound installation made of thirty old clocks, connected through contact microphones, transforming the mechanical ticking into a malleable sonic material. This soundscape could be combined with voice, integrated into musical instruments, or shaped into new compositions.

YThe installation was placed in the hands of other artists through open calls and artistic residencies in Cluj-Napoca, Oradea, and Bucharest. Each participant was invited to create their own response, expanding the project into a collaborative experiment. What began as a personal exploration of time and memory evolved into a shared artistic process, opening new paths for experimentation and dialogue across multiple cities.
